I think the problem you are experiencing is that the CryEngine was originally specifically created for the Crysis games so all the things you are talking about were included from day one. Unity was created for the purpose of being a canvas for any type of game so time of day, opening doors aren't exactly suitable for everyone.

Well, I found out why Crysis 2's graphics are worse...
In fact, the included texture packs are roughly the same size (~.49 GB Crysis, ~.47 GB Crysis 2). What did change drastically however were the size of the shader caches, with the original Crysis being about .3 GB in size with Crysis 2's being only around .08 GB (80 megabytes) or to put it simply, less than a third the size of the originals.
